The Malawi Consulate General, located at 4 Dodge Street Woodmead, Sandton, was established to provide consular services to Malawians residing in or visiting South Africa and to also promote trade, investment and tourism between the two countries.
The Malawi Consulate in Johannesburg wishes to inform the general public that is it recruiting local staff in a bid to ensure effective service delivery and equitable access to consular services. In this respect, the Consulate is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the following post:
HOUSEKEEPER- GRADE 6
The candidates should possess the following:
Qualifications
Matric certificate/ Malawi School Certificate of Education/ O Level plus a Certificate in Hospitality or Housekeeping.
Experience
At least three years’ relevant experience in a similar field from a reputable organization.
Skills and Attributes
- Knowledge in laundry and cleaning tools;
- Good communication and time management;
- Good interpersonal and customer care;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to handle basic patient/guest problems;
- Ability to keep confidential information;
- Willing to work beyond normal working hours.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Day to day cleaning of house and making beds;
- Washing and ironing linen and other clothing materials;
- Preparing and submitting weekly house requirements;
- Maintaining a register of patients and their guardians;
- Cleaning all household tools and appliances;
- Inspecting and reporting faults or damages on the property;
- Maintaining inventory of all supplies in the house;
- Welcoming patients/guests and directing them appropriately;
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

- Successful candidates will be vetted by South African Police Service (SAPS) and Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).
